How to Make a Great First Impression

Whether you are in a networking situation or a business meeting, the first impression you make is critical to your success. And you only have 5 seconds to make it a good one! To ensure that you make a positive first impression, focus on these three elements:

1.  Your Energy – Relax, smile and be warm and inviting

2.  Hand Squeeze (i.e., Handshake) – Firm but friendly

3.  Opening Lines – Be positive and say something welcoming, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

To ensure that you are ready for your next business encounter, practice. You may feel silly at first practicing in front of the mirror or with your spouse or a co-workers, but you’ll see immediate results. Good luck!
